We’ve had crazy Gaga now meet Glamazon Gaga.

For her new comeback single cover, out this Friday (oh, the anticipation), our favourite Lady reveals her most shocking look yet. Shot in black and white by legendary snapper Nick Knight, Gaga poses naked for the camera accessorized with nothing but wild Glamazon hair and cats eye liner. Huh?  No raw meat dress?  No sculptural hairpiece?

Hair stylist and the man behind the look, Sam Mcknight, tells me Gaga is turning over a new fashion leaf. ‘My brief was to make her look as beautiful and glamorous as possible. She wanted to move away from looking freaky,’ explains Sam. On set, it was high-octane glamour all the way. ‘I wanted to make her look like a classic American goddess to show off how beautiful she really is. No crazy outfits, just her looking fabulous,’ says Sam.

Shot in North West London, the team including makeup artist Val Garland, Mcknight and photographer Nick Knight worked into the small hours as Gaga worked the lense to her new track Born This Way.

‘Gaga is so inspirational, she came to the shoot with tons of references along the 80’s and 90’s Supermodel vibe. I took influence from old Avedon Versace models with their wild flowing hair,’ says Sam who also took a nod from all-American 70’s icons like Cheryl Tiegs. We think it’s got a touch of Farrah Fawcett meets Madonna circa True Blue about it.

So, does this mean a return to marathon hair styling? I’m afraid so. Sam says stock up on mousse to blow-dry with, and then start backcombing. Finish with a shine cream or serum on the ends. ‘I used a combo of Pantene Pro-V Volume and Body Mousse and Kiehl’s Crème with Silk Groom. Then I gently brushed out the edges with a paddle brush to soften the backcombed effect.’
