Lady Gaga and her stylist, collaborator and friend,
Nicola Formichetti are both having a big week.
Gaga is fully immersed in the launch of her new album and single and Nicola’s first ready to wear collection for Mugler is to show imminently at Paris Fashion Week. Fashion fans become over excited at the prospect of any show by a new designer – and this one is buckling under the weight of extra hype: Gaga will singing a brand new, never-before heard song, live at the show.
To say we are exited about what the lady and her Haus of Gaga will come up with is an understatement. And how on earth the models wearing the clothes will get a look in, with that attention seeker prancing around at the same time is a question we will have to wait till tomorrow to find out the answer to. The Lady has form when it comes to gate crashing catwalk shows – in September 2009
Alexander McQueen’s S/S ’11 show was due to be streamed live on SHOWstudio.com – the first event of its kind, when
Gaga, at that point the person with the most twitter followers on earth, tweeted that her new song was to be debuted at the collection, whereupon so many people tried to log on that the site crashed before a single dress could be seen.
The overlap between the two artists work –
Nicola and
Gaga that is, has been widening of late. Not only has Nicola been issuing daily internet ‘teasers’ leading up to both his menswear and womenswear shows featuring the music his muse, but the be-platformed one has been making a large proportion of her public appearances decked out in
Mugler finery. Here we have exhibit A (top pic) – her and her dancers performing in latex robes at the Grammys and here we are again – in her Born this way video, wearing a sculpted-shoulder suit from Mugler as well as these ‘knife boots’ below -
Oh, how we love it when a plan comes together! Gaga and Nicola are the perfect synergy. Even though, with the prospect of more latex, platform heels higher than cranes and more body modification with nobules and globules on Gaga’s face and shoulders, we might be a bit frightened by it – we cannot wait for the show!
Stay tuned to Grazia Daily all this week for
Paris news as it happens!
