H&M Women's Spring 2011 Collection
"Fashion right now is all about reinventing classic favourites, with a wardrobe full of perfect pieces that have been restyled and reconsidered to feel completely new. This season there’s a particular focus on the mood of the 60s and 70s, with brightly coloured shapes that are short and sharp alongside a more romantic silhouette that is long and elegant. To make a modern mix, these pieces are teamed with seasonal trends and modern essentials with innovative shapes and proportions. There is a move towards function in fabrics as well as form, with many of the fibres used being organic or recycled. At H&M we are proud to continue working with sustainable materials to make fashion forward clothes that will soon be timeless."
Okay. Well, that's probably a bit too grandiose a description for our tastes but we have to say we like this collection much better than the men's. It seems to us that there are more options for the customer to be found here.
There's certainly a skirt and pant in every length and cut needed. Like the men's collection, this one has a practical, utilitarian feel to it but because it's women's wear, it naturally has a little more flair to it.
Although we're not sure we're ready to see caftans on the street again. Not unless the wearer is willing to pair them with a turban, cat-eye sunglasses, and a cigarette holder.
