Bridal Runway: Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011 and Wedding Dress Trend: Flowers and Pockets
This weekend was the spring Bridal Market in New York City. It’s one of two weekends each year where everyone who is anyone in the bridal industry converges on Manhattan to show and see the latest collections. In a flurry of white and tulle, each designer presents his newest designs to buyers and editors from around the country.
I went to the Oscar de la Renta runway show today and, true to his bridal style, the gowns were ultra-feminine with divine detailing. Here are a few of the ones that stood out…although they were all gorgeous. This silk faille dress looks simple and demure from the front, but the open back will leave your guest talking…and in a good way.
I love the way the ribbon is woven through the draping on the bodice (which is spectacular up close!).
This dress has something old, something new and something blue. It marries the traditional white wedding dress with the trend of colored bridal gowns—a stunning ivory guipure lace overlay with peeks of blue showing through.
The plunging neckline and ribbon-wrapped waist are the two things I liked best about this gown. And, for the bride who likes sparkle, this dress has a little bit of a twinkle to it.
You can view the entire collection on the Oscar de la Renta website. These dresses won’t be in bridal salons until next year, but now you have something to look forward to.
Happily Ever After,
This is a continuation of our Bridal Market coverage.
We are keeping a lot of interesting trends and dresses for the 2010 issue of our bridal pub Wedding Dresses with a peek in the next Engagement 101. However here is a tease…
