Describe your personal style.
I would say my personal style isn't really a set theme. It changes with whatever story I'm living that particular day. I could be a character from a Chekhov play, a Fellini film, or influenced by a new song. I would say however, I've moved away a way a bit from the girlish gamine to a more mature eclectic bohemian look.
Who are your favorite designers?
Phoebe Philo, Isabelle Marant, Tsumori Chisato, Mark Fast, vintage Jane Mayle.
What are your favorite places to shop?
Favorite shops are Roseark for jewelry, vintage stores, flea markets, Zara, Satine.
Who are your style icons?
Georgia O'Keefe, Frida Khalo, Dominique Sanda in her early films, Marilyn Monroe (Niagra, Bus Stop), Anna Karena, Ava Gardner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jane Birkin, Johnny Cash
Are there any key pieces you find yourself wearing constantly?
Isabelle Marant ankle suede cowboy boots, vintage chinese silk blouses, Kathy Azarmi-Rose arrowhead
necklace, a beaten up black leather trench, vintage levis.
What is your most recent purchase?
Vintage white mexican dress. Red jeans at Zara (still not quite sure about these but thought they were cheerful for spring)
Do you have any stories about amazing deals you've gotten on awesome pieces?
I once found some King Fisher earrings for less than a hundred dollars. These are rare, old, Chinese earrings made of vibrant blue feathers from the King Fisher bird. They were worn by the aristocrats or concubines in ancient China.
Can you give us smart shopping advice?
I suppose follow your gut. There have been some items that I decided to pass on and then realized they were gems. If it's not a great cost to you and it's something unique get it!
Which beauty products do you recommend?
Right now it's all about coconut oil for me. I put it in my hair to condition it, use it as body lotion and even on
my skin. You can also cook with it! I also love the Rodin oils for body and face.
Do you ever feel like you have nothing to wear? : )
Yes! When I'm having an identity crisis I can feel like I don't have the right clothes but eventually if I dig in my closet I find something. I actually have very few "ordinary clothes". I need to find some interesting clothes for hiking and gardening.
I just never have the patience to buy sweats and t shirts so I end up wearing odd bits that are around.
5 things you can't live without.
My girls, my girl friends, my oak trees in the garden, tea and hazlenut milk, my i pod.
