As previously mentioned, singer-dancer-actor-designer-CEO-”world star” Rain is coming out with his own fashion line, “Six to Five,” which he kicked off in style on the 23rd with a fashion show–launch party–mini concert. Trust Mr. Multihyphenate to give the same treatment to his big events.
The launching party took place in Ilsan and was attended by some of Rain’s industry buddies, though not a whole slew of them; some key attendees included Hyori, Yoon Kye-sang, Chae Rim and Kim Sun-ah.
Apparently, the rocket was chosen as the brand symbol to express “the spirit of challenge that overcomes time and space.” Er….. Furthermore, the brand name is based on the concept of moving from the five senses into the realm of the sixth… in which case, shouldn’t the brand name be Five to Six? O_o

The collection aims to incorporate a vintage touch to the style which is described as “halfway between Europe and America.” After the brand launches in Korea, Rain plans to expand to China, Japan, and the rest of Asia.

Rain explains his rationale for his unusual fashion show/concert: “I prepared this new type of show to set it apart from shows that are merely big…. I mixed the idea of a fashion show and concert to make it even more entertaining.”
(I don’t mean this as snark, but that’s spoken as someone who merely sees fashion as an extension of his “entertainer” label instead. I mean, obviously fashion shows should entertain, but that is not their primary purpose, and this really just seems like a different type of concert, not a different type of fashion. Doesn’t it?)
The runway portion of the show was split into four themes: Red, Blue, White, and Black. Rain kicked off the runway show with a song and dance (naturally), while fashion models strutted in wearing Six to Five designs. Rain also walked in the show.
Part 2 was the concert portion, during which Rain sang a mix of some old hits and new songs off his 5th album: “It’s Raining,” “Touch Ya,” “I Do,” “Love Story,” “Rainism,” and “Fresh Woman” (or, as I like to think of it, “fresh ramen”).

(I always get a kick out of some of his more, uh, unusual poses. Above we have the Drag Queen Strut, the Jazz! Hands!, and the Michael Jackson. Below we have… what looks like a mix of Drunken Karate Kid and Broadway Side-Skip. Gotta love it)
