Preen's Unstoppable Force
They may be two of the nicest people in fashion, but London couple Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi are more than just that. Together, they're an unstoppable force - designers who just keep on redefining what they do, further developing their signature and subtly moving forward each and every season.
After SS11’s perfectly pretty tailoring, this new collection saw a move towards something more elaborate yet, at the same time, refined. This meant complex embroidered geometric prints, sprouting over sweaters and tumbling over dresses. This meant a colour palette that moved from neutrals to muddy classroom tones and sudden shots of bright (most notably cobalt blue, already looking like the colour of the season).
This also meant heavy beading and complex fabric overlays and dresses that looked as though they were pieced together from many different parts, playing with illusion. That it all came together with elegance is a testament to the duo's skill: from unfussy and slim trouser suits to chic silk and chiffon dresses with fiercely slashed slits (the slit skirt is another trend this season), this was sleek and sexy stuff.
