Gorgeous Wedding Minis for 2011

–Monica Cotto, Luxury Fashion Expert
Over the years, bridal designers have flirted with creating short white dresses for brides who want to change into less cumbersome gowns after the ceremony. More often than not, these were just simple alternatives to the “main show” gowns.
That’s why I was pleasantly surprised, during the recent shows, to see so many designers elevating the stature of the short white dress, creating frothy confections and elaborate designs that were just as detailed and special as their longer counterparts. Amsale, Badgley Mischka, Jim Hjelm and Marchesa showcased some of my favorite examples.
Amsale
This short and sweet dress by Amsale evokes the classic chic of yesteryear.
Jim Hjelm
Jim Hjelm’s little white dress is super feminine with just a hint of sexiness.
Badgley Mischka
Badgley Mischka presented the perfect example of a short dress special enough to be worn for the ceremony.
Marchesa
Fashion forward, yet maintaining a flirty and delicate sensibility, Marchesa’s dress is one of my favorites.
The new shorter styles have the ability to stand on their own for the ceremony and, if slipped into for the reception, allow the bride to continue shining throughout the night. They also make fabulous options for the rehearsal dinner.
Whichever direction she chooses to go in, these styles will allow the bride to kick up her heels all night.
